Workshop: Make a rush basket - 23-24 May 2026

Join me in my basket shed in Telford, Shropshire to make a basket using sustainably harvested English rush. You will have a choice of shapes, sized and weave patterns with this soft, fragrant material. This two day workshop will introduce you to the principles of working with rush and key weaving techniques.

You will come away with a beautiful, functional bag or shopping basket with your choice of either a shoulder strap or side handles.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. Please bear in mind that basketry can be tough on the hands to start with and may not be suitable for those with limited hand strength. Please ask for more details if you are not sure.

All materials and tools will be provided. Please wear clothes suitable for working in and closed toe footwear. Drinks and refreshments will be provided, please bring your own packed lunch.
