Workshop: Make a Willow Handbag Basket 20-21 Sept 2025

Join me in my basket shed in Telford, Shropshire to make a contemporary willow handbag with leather or vegan handles. This two day workshop will introduce you to the principles of working with willow and key weaving techniques.

You will come away with a beautiful, functional bag or shopping basket with your choice of either a shoulder strap or side handles. You will weave a French-style base and learn the technique of scalloming to attach the uprights. The basket is then finished using traditional weaves and a border.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. Please bear in mind that basketry can be tough on the hands to start with and may not be suitable for those with limited hand strength. Please ask for more details if you are not sure.

All materials and tools will be provided. Please wear clothes suitable for working in and closed toe footwear. Drinks and refreshments will be provided, please bring your own packed lunch.
